Academic Days
- headed by Dr. Ward who has experience well regarded academic day program at Scarborough Site of U of T, based on CFPC’s 99 Priority Topics
- continuity of supervision provided by having select preceptors attend majority of Academic Days allowing follow up on questions from previous sessions and consistent group facilitation
- OTN available if we need to access a session provided off site
- plan to have 2 full days / month rather than four half days to limit impact (off call time) and maximize learning opportunities; plan variety of teaching / learning experiences to sustain interest and interaction
- access to Queen’s library / librarian as well as LHO online library and librarian
- all teaching practices are using EMR providing large stores of data that could be accessed
- resident research project OR advocacy project required including PGY-2 poster presentation
- Queen’s residents also receive complimentary access to Up to Date
Rural FM
- three continuous blocks in PGY-2 year
- third setting in sites with limited specialist backup
- preferred sites for QBOL are Port Perry, Lindsay, and Haliburton
- option for other sites depending on availability
- will develop ongoing relationship which allows for quality control through resident feedback and faculty development
- two separate single blocks for electives
- late first year and early to mid second year
- will try to set advantageous timing of elective blocks for residents who need to use to assist in PGY-3 applications
