Behaviour

We are trying to develop an innovative program built in a “resident centred” way while also incorporating the latest competency based “Triple C” curriculum theories and the nine Queen’s Family Medicine Domains of Clinical Care (DOCCs).

We will emphasize direct observation with the goal of daily field notes and please remember, while we are offering a new program, many of our preceptors are already experienced teachers.

As an FYI, Queen's Family Medicine divides the calendar into 13 four week blocks of time per year.

Here is what we have planned for...

BEHAVIOURAL MEDICINE

  • consultant psychiatry service through Dr. A. Goldwater, enthusiastic local psychiatrist with good understanding of FM needs and strong background in counselling
  • refer from family practice for behavioural diagnoses
  • but also can refer from home family practice for other illnesses with behavioural components (chronic illness, interview skills, stages of change / decision making) and see again with psychiatrist supervision
  • follow up in family practice / psychiatry clinic again if needed
  • group briefing / debriefing
  • approximately 3 half days / month
Here is the link to the Behavioural Brainstorming Spreadsheet to jot down ideas.  Remember, these are just suggestions; there are no wrong answers.
